Are non-resident parents of UK residents eligible for NHS?

Post by ugurevin » Wed May 05, 2004 5:29 pm

If you are a resident here thru Workpermit, HSMP, etc. can your parents who are not UK residents take advantage of NHS in the UK?

Thanks,
Ugur

1. No.

2. In addition the NHS regulations have been amended to limit treatment to those lawfully admitted into the UK for longer than 12 months ecxept where a student visa is held of 6+ months duration or is otherwise exempt from this provision by the Home Secretary - asylum seekers etc.

3. Everyone is still entitled to emergency treatment e.g. after a road traffic accident - I am sure you would rather not have to receive such treatment.

4. Your parents are most welcome to enter the UK as visitors for private medical treatment.

NHS entitlement for HSMP folks ?

Kayalami,
I just went through your above comments. That means, HSMP folks are not entitled for NHS treatment (resgisteration) according to the recent ammendment because HSMP is being initially given for 12 months (with some exceptions - 24months ). Is it corrent ?

Appreciate your further clarification (like always :D ).

Regards.

Yes kayalami, I am really surprised to hear that considering that the HSMP guidance stated that there was no need for private medical insurance, it would be shocking to hear that HSMP persons are only entitled to limited treatment in the first year.
