marialear wrote:Hey all,

Very pleased to say that my approval letter from INIS for Irish naturalization came in April 1st! I now have to contact the District Court for the formal declaration and then get my cert.

I can't believe that it has finally come through. Just to go over my story:

Applied Aug 2006 on basis of 5 year work permits
Asked for updated supporting docs in Nov 2008
Phoned Mar 26th and INIS said my app with w/Minister
April 2nd - got letter in the post. Not a registered letter, just a hand addressed envelope from the Dept sent normal delivery.

Thanks to everyone for the many replies to my posts over the years - can't believe that I first arrived in Ireland, I was only going to stay a year! That's what happens I suppose!

This website has been a great source of information, relief and place to vent frustration and have the occasional rant as we all know! :)

Good luck to everyone! Take care

M

That's just bulls hit!!

Here are the figures for applications each year:
2005 - 4523
2006 - 7030
2007 - 8003
2008 - 10885

As it has been for nearly 3 years now.
Strangely, I find that I am becoming ever less virtuous as time goes on

Got through to Tipperary office-the woman said they're 'still processing' my application - she was very vague about the status of my application-when i asked her if its still at the gardai check stage, she said: 'thats completed but it's now in a que to go to the minister and that there's a lot more applications before mine that will be sent to minister first.

Will take everything INIS says with a pinch of salt

I rang to INIS last week and they told me that my app passed Garda

Many thanks to all of you for your support and valuable information. My time line is as follows:
1 - Application submitted in June 2007. (Initially submitted in May 2007 but returned back to me due to my marriage affidavit not completed according to their guidelines)
2 - Basis of application: spouse of irish citizen
3 - Type of residency: Work authorisation (was and still stamp 4 since the entry to Ireland - I never bothered to change it to a spousal status)
4 - February 09: I was asked to re-send a translation of my birth certificate with my name exactly matching my name on the application form. I sent that in the same month. I was not asked to send updated P21 forms or recent payslips.
5 - Application submitted to the minister in early March 09 (informed of this by a phone call to INIS)
6 - Approval letter 3/4/09 (this date was on the outer envelope - there is no date on the letter itself)
7 - Oath appointment 22/4/09

One last question guys: Can I put a new address on my oath Form instead of my original address because I am moving out from my current home to a new one and I know that Naturalisation Cert comes in a registered post. Can I do that or this may just further confuse INIS. If I don't provide them with my new address, I am afraid that the Cert will be returned back to INIS. Do you suggest any ideas please?

Once again I have to thank all of you in this forum for the valuable information and support.
