As I understand it, at the moment there are only random checks on people leaving the UK (it's only happened to me once in 6 years). This will change in the future but afaik full exit checking is not yet in place. So the likelihood that you will encounter a problem at the airport on Saturday is uncertain but probably less than you'd expect.

Overstaying may have an impact on future visa applications you make to come to the UK but I defer to the broader experience of more senior forum members on that issue.

Practically speaking, one thing to consider is getting an a coach today to go to Paris for a few days and then either return on Saturday (under cover of a tourist/visit visa) or fly out from Paris. I do not know what visa restrictions there are on nationals from Canada so can't comment on whether this will work for you but it's worth considering.

There may be more simple solutions to your problem but it's not an area I'm familiar with. Hopefully others will be able to comment.

I really don't think a few days will be a problem.

It all depends how quickly they seek to come back.
