Just wondering whether people think there will be an effect on Visa approvals with the recent terror suspect arrests?

HO has been looking at misuse of VISAs (especially Student VISAS) for long. The raids were a corrective action however preventive actions might now involve more screening etc.- difficult to say what the reaction will be.
Political expediency may force the Government to introduce tighter controls - end result - genuine applicants might suffer due to longer waiting times etc.

They already block ways for bogus colleges to play with life of students and r cracking more. I guess they do more screening but genuine ppl also get effected..
But any way if someone is genuine they will not gonna reject they are nice ppl

This make sense too. HO has to make sure that everybody entering in the country will not be a threat to its people and society.Even if this means tigther screening it should be welcomed. Genuine people shouldn't be affected.

Genuine people will be affected because additional verifications/checks will result in increased timelines and may be costs in the form of fee to recover expenses incurred on such additional verifications etc. Same old lemons problem. But the net result will be a better name for the immigrants as a whole, in the end.

I agree with Push_hsmp, HO will increase the visa fees or would find out some way to recover the expenses for doing extra verifications.
This would definitly results in longer time in processing applications and would bring in longer nervous moments for applicants. But, i do feel at the end if it is genuine application, he/she need not to worry and they would they treated fairly.

Visa fee and longer time to approve the visa is anyway happening w/o toghter screening. Imagine a situation where a genuine candidate somehow fall for bogus college or agent. He may entirely loose not only his precious time of study but also the money which he (or his parents) have early very hard. Its worth spending little extra to protect the principal.
Yes this will definitely improve situation as a whole. We would do the same in our respective countries if we would have in the same situation..don't we?

Guys ,
we need to support UK government to deal with terrorism .
So a proper screening is necessary . So that only genuine guys enter Uk .
Student visa etc is highly misused . last week police caught 10 guys working in a store who have never ever seen colleges in Uk . But on student visa ..
What is the use of tier 1 or 2 or 3 ......if we end up bombed and burned like a tyre ........
security is highest priority ....

I agree that there should be strict rules for bogus colleges and students.
And in case of these guys if they are convicted with evidences then should be charged but if not they deserve some apologies and assurance for rest of stay and life.
just have a look and see comments aswell.

This is bad. Why they are being deported and not charged? They should be charged and all people associated with them should lined up. Deporting them is like leaving them to bomb somewhere else but not in UK. Putting them behind bars is the safest way.

chetanojha, I agree with you. They should be charged and be in prison.
but in this case it seems they didn't find any evidence as they claimed. so don't you think it's unfair to ruin someone's life.

Guys let wait and see the outcome. I doubt that if you philosophy that if you have picture of shopping centre you are going to destroy it is wrong. I know many overseas students and visitor come and want to take picture of any different thing. There must be crediable eveidence like phone tapping or emails or some concrete material. if they can not produce it after 9 months as they said then pupils should get their lives back.
