Effective date of New Citizenship Bill

Does anyone have an idea about the date
the new citizenship bill is / will be effective. even a tentative date will be helpful. Thank you

It is very difficult to answer this. Why? Because it is not just a question of knowing when the Bill will become an Act, but also when its various provisions come into force .... and different provisions might come into force on different dates.

Probably the safest thing to say is that the provisions of the Act will not start to take effect this year, 2009. And of course the Bill is still progressing through Parliament, so we don't yet know exactly what will be in the Act.
