re-entering the US after a short stay outside

Post by mikmum » Thu Apr 16, 2009 6:35 pm

here is the situation... my mother came from Malaysia to the US on a tourist visa to help me with my newborn and she will stay with me for 6 months... then she will go back to Malaysia for 4 months. She then plans to re-enter the US and stay with me for another 6 months.

I have heard a rumor that if the time you spend outside of the US is less than the time of your previous stay in the US, you may face some problems at the border immigration (or you could even be denied to re-enter the US)...

Does this rumor carry any truth?? Has anyone have similar experience?

Thanks in advance..

If she stays past 90 days (3 months) she may be denied entry back into the US for whatever penalty time the immigration control may assess.
