Tier 1 (HSMP Extension) - Immigration History

Post by MonaM » Tue May 05, 2009 9:35 pm

Hello All,

I will be applying for my HSMP extension (initial 2 years as per old format)
I had the following visa statuses ( without any gaps ) before i applied for my initial HSMP

1) On Business Visa from october 2004 to March 2005
2) On Work permit from April 2005 to June 2007

and then switched to HSMP.

For my extension application -
In the Section 2 D - Immigration history, which details from the above visas should be entered to answer the following questions D1, D2, D3, D4 on entry clearance

D1. Did the applicant obtain entry clearance or a visa before entering the United Kingdom? (Yes)

D2. Where did the applicant obtain entry clearance or a visa before travelling to the United Kingdom?

D3. What date was the entry clearance or visa issued?

(Should this be the date when
i switched to HSMP within UK or
Came on Work permit or
first time came on Business Visa )

I hope someone can give an insight abt this question.

Thanks a lot
Mona

It's a bit confusing yes.
Did you obtain your work permit from your country? or from within the UK(which I am not sure if it was possible).
Anyways apparently it seems it needs the visa reference using which you had travelled to the United kingdom for teh first time. It says "D2. Where did the applicant obtain entry clearance or a visa before travelling to the United
Kingdom?" - It explicitly says "Before travelling" - hence I guess the first visa.

However it may be worthy to mention it in the Cover letter as well citing the section D1. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your input Allgo, and sorry for the confusion in my query.

I got my WP from india when i travelled back after finishing 6 months on Business Visa.

But for HSMP, i didnt travel back as i was already on WP.

So, according to you, should i be putting my first WP details as entry clearance??

Regards,
Mona

Yep..Would do so.
And not your post but the Question D1 itself is confusing :-)

Even if u put the WP details.. I woudl still recommend to explain it in a couple of lines in teh Cover letter.
Seniors in the forum - Kindly correct me if I am wrong.
cheers

I am not very sure but this information should be provided from your current visa. So in your case, the answer to D3 should be the date on your HSMP visa i.e the date it was issued to you.
