FLR(ID) originals sent - Passport expiry in lessthan 3 Years

Post by sagarjv » Sun Aug 14, 2005 4:38 pm

All,
I sent my documents for HSMP FLR(ID) 29-Jul-05, but later realised that my passport will be expiring in June 2008. Has any of you come across this situation? What is the possible FLR(ID) extension Home Office might give to me.

Thanks & regards,
Sagar

Don't worry

The length of the visa (extention) has nothing to do with your passport expiry. Your visa can very well be valid beyond the expiry of your passport. All you need to do is to carry your old and new passports together. In my case the expiry date on my residence permit was 2009 and my passport expiry date was in 2007.

Hi,
What I did in Heathrow was to ask the immigration official to pass the stamp from the old passport to the new one (just for simplification) that way I have to carry only one; doing it in croydon will be too expensive but sometimes in heathrow they do it for free.

As far as I know, they have stopped doing that for free at the port of entries.

I was under the impression that there is no charge for transferring FLR from an old passport to a new one, but there is a charge for transferring ILR from old to new passports. Could someone clarify this please.
