Your wife cant take up the practice or job related to her profession ( Dental).
for that she need to clear some exams.
she can do other jobs if she wants.

she can do any work or even start her business on dependent visa as of now. PERHAPS to practice dental work she may need necessary authorization from the relevant heath authorities.
Please note there is speculation talk of stopping the dependents visa people from doing work due to recession. But such a rule or regulation may take time to implement.

Working as a Dentist

Post by docavril » Fri Feb 27, 2009 9:25 pm

I am a dentist myself. Yes, ur wife can work on your Tier 1 dependant visa, but she has to have a General Dental Council Registration to work legally as a Dentist, which can be obtained by taking the Overseas Registration Examination. Check the gdc-uk.org website for details on the exam.

Examination for Overseas Qualified Dentists (ORE)

Post by Zain1975 » Sun May 10, 2009 11:23 pm

The Overseas Registration Examination (ORE) tests the clinical skills and knowledge of dentists from outside the EEA whose qualifications are not recognised for full registration with the General Dental Council.

http://www.gdc-uk.org/Potential+registr ... +Dentists/

By the way does anyone know how easy or difficult these exams are? And does it really take only 6-12 months?

Any practical information would be appreciated as my dentist fiancée (who would join me post marriage on a dependent visa) is in a similar position, and I am a UK Tier 1 (Visa) holder.

You will be dealing with patients so obviously shouldn't expect easy exam.

Hello,

My wife is also a dentist and she has cleared part 1 of the ORE Exam. The best source of information is the DJC Group on Yahoo run by MRCF. It has comprehensive guidance and material for ORE prep.

PM me if you want some guidance about preparing for this exam.
