hmmm... i got an offer of 40k in Swindon
Is that decent considering the current markets?

There are free tools online which can be used to find out what the "in hand" salary for you would be, post tax & NI.

Rent could be 600-800 pcm (1 bedroom/shared flat). Add to that food+travel+pub visits+ eating out+ commute to work and you have a fairly good idea. Does 40k include bonus as well?

No , bonus is separate.
Yes i'm aware of those tools , My question was more inclined towards Swindon.
As I've heard that costs vary a lot according to the cities there .
