yup..! i applied on 5th May 09 and got my PSW on the 10th 09 within five days...i have applied from middle east..!

Well... endurance, did you provide bank statements form UK bank or from bank at home? What is the name of the country you applied from?

You can use either UK bank or abroad they are only concerned about £800 funds for the last 3 months (in country) and conditions for finds are different for out of country applications which you would have to follow as stated in the guidence. Hope that helps

i applied thru my home country bank account ...my funds showed as required was equivalent to £2800.00 ...and country applied from was oman..! u can also provide yr UK bank account but as u know if yr applying from outisde the amount should be £2800.00/- preety much..! i was astonished and happy to find that the outcome of my application was withing five days..however it may vary from county to counry ..chk the website

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. In my case, it is better to apply from outside the UK as I didn't meet (didn't know) all the requirements (maintenance fund is the issue). I believe these days, the entry clearance visa takes less time to process than renewing or applying it inside the UK. Cheers!
