This rule seems utterly ridiculous.. it is not like I am making up 12 months worth of bank statements, it was simply a misinterpretation of the application details.

When I called the Home Office to ask about sending in new information he said it wasn't usually accepted.. but he wasn't 100% on whether it would be allowed or not.

1 piece of documentation missing suddenly equals a refusal and possibly £750 down the drain.

I applied via courier from uk for extension ,
on 21st mar
courier dispatched on 23rd march (due to weekend)
app received on 24th march
fees deducted 30th march (cheque)
acknowledgement recd 02 april

and I havent received anything after that.

did you guys called HO call center to track your app or is thr any online facility?

Regards,
HSMPier.
No there is no online facility to track your application status. but you can ring the homeoffice give them your PBS reference number to check the current status of your application.

The contact number is given on the acknoledgement letter.

yes this is a bad rule that you cant reapply from the UK. Atleast they should give one chance for fresh application.

Explain them in the cover letter that you might lose your current job if you go back and apply for extention from there and will make your life upside down. And in curent economic situation it will be killer to your career.

Just explain it in best possible way and leave yourself at their mercy and pray to god. You can only do this much.

Note: Do send your bank statements in your appeal.

Hi all, have just received my extension approval
Here's the timeline:

Type: HSMP Extension under Tier 1 (G)
Previous Visa expiry date:05/05/09
Visa Extended Until: 04/05/12

Application Posted by SD: 26/03/09
Acknowldgement Letter Dated: 30/04/09 (Fee Deducted +/- the same time)
Approval Letter Dated: 08/05/09
Docs Delivered to My Add.(with pre-attached SD envelope): 12/05/09
(Not in yesterday, collected it this morning, 13/05/09, from the Post Office)

It's such a great relief!
I've found lots of valueable advises and shared experiences from this board and they have made my application process much easier and given me so much confidence.

THANK YOU ALL, AND BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL.

Thanx everybody in this forum for all the support.I was a silent reader all these days going through all the posts.

It took 46 days.

Received docs today with visa stamped till may 2012

Right now i am on a work permit. My parent company is in India & i am working here in its UK subsidiary.

I have one doubt is it mandatory to inform my employer about my new visa.

Is there any rule that i should let my employer know abt the change in my visa status

Once again A BIG Thanx & Best of luck for all waiting for decision.

I dont think its mandatory. But again if Home office(HO) has cancelled your Old visa (work permit) and given the new visa(tier1) then you should inform your employer as work permit is sponcered by your employer
I am not sure if you can have two valid visas at the same time. Speak to HO helpline.
But you wont have any effect on your employment status. You can work freely in your current company.

I know some indian companies dont like their employees taking hsmp/tier1 from work permit. If this is the case than speak to home office first and play your cards accordingly in a legal way to best of your interests

hi zeevirgo i know its frustating but we cant do much i am in the same position. One thing is sure and that is our applications are still in the queue for consideration. It could be because there is a application rush or the caseworker who is supposed to look into our application is already deep under the workload

Received Visa today

Post by rubal » Thu May 14, 2009 11:24 am

Hi everyone,
First and foremost,a bundle full of thanks to all contributers on this forum.
Here is my timeline,
21 march - app alongwith wife's sent by DHL
23 march - app dispatched by courier center (delayed due to weekend
24 march - app recd by HO
30 march - cheque deducted
2 april - acknowledgement recd
14th may - visa recd

My observation.
-No need to send by courier, fast class recorded is better if in UK.
-If possible, pay by Debit card for quick processing
-if dependant is also applying then add 1 extra week to normal 5-week.

Rest assured always read the Guidance Notes PROPERLY.

Regards,
Rubal
