Hi,

My friend has been here on HSMP extension and she wants to apply for ILR but she has a continuous break in stay of more than 10 months....can she apply for second extension or she would have to return back home!!!!!

Please advise......

You means extension of HSMP? Yes she can apply for HSMP to Tier 1 extension but not ILR due to 10 months break.

Agreed. ILR requires continuous stay in the United KIngdom. Therefore, if she meets the criteria for extension, then she should use this option instead.

1) Theroretically - as many as one qualifies for, though one woukld be expected to apply for ILR as soon as this is possible.

2) three years is standard if the initial grant was for 2 years.

and vice versa !

and the extension application and evidences will be the same as for normal extension applications!

List of evidences is clearly mentioned in the guidance notes(roughly Age/Earnings/Qualification/Maintenance Funds/English Proof). This would not be same as HSMP extension. Your friend will be get extension under Tier 1(as HSMP scheme is closed).
