Are you saying you are applying for your childs first passport. If yes, then they dont interview children.

However if your wife is applying, then she will be interviewed and asked several personal question to ensure that she is the person who is going to get the passport.

Thye will ask for her home address, work details , number of children you have, she will be asked question about you, where you live, what you do, your work details etc. What docs you have sent with application etc.

Interview normally lasts 20 minutes and its easy. They do it with everyone who now applies for a British passport for the first time.

I assume they would interview the parents who are doing the application.

Do one or both of the parents have a current British passport? Which country are you (and the baby) in?

In the US, it appears all UK passport interviews happen in Washington. So if you live in Hawaii, be prepared for a long series of flights. This can make the passport application quite expensive.
