Tier1 General Dependent visa Approval

Hi Everyone ,

I am on Tier 1 ( General ) Migrant Visa and my partner has recently applied for Dependent visa category : Tier 1 General Migrant Dependent visa.

Timelines :

Application submitted in VFS Hyd : 23-04-2009
Passport received : 08-05-2009

Below is the checklist of documents submitted :


1. Application Form.
2. 2 Photos According to the specifications.
3. Passport
4. Biometric ( Applicant will be scanned in VFS )
5. Sponsor Letter
6. Covering Letter from Main Applicant.
7. DD or Cash ( Rs. 50,650 )
8. Letter from Employer
9. 6 Months Payslips
10. 6 Months Current Account Bank statements & Letter from Bank confirming the Balance at the end of statements. Maintain minimum balance of £1600.00 + for last 3 months .
11. 6 Months Savings Account Bank statements & Letter from Bank confirming the Balance at the end of statements. ( optional )
12. Passport photocopy of sponsor showing valid Visa.
13. Letter & Receipt From Post office UK identity checking service confirming that the photocopy Of passport has been identity checked against original passport or any Attestation from any solicitor will be ok .
14. Letter from Home office confirming the visa status of sponsor .
15. Tenancy Agreement
16. Rent Receipt
17. Utility Bills
18. No objection Letter from Property Agents or Landlord
19. No objection Letter from Co – Tenant ( if property is on sharing )
20. Marriage Certificate
21. Marriage Photos
22. Marriage Invitation card
23. Plane Boarding passes , E-ticket & Ticket receipt confirming that the sponsor arrived In India for the purpose of his marriage with the Applicant .

Thanks. This probably is the most exhaustive list. But do we need Sl. Nos. 13 and 23?

Absolutely not. But nothing wrong in submitting it if u have it.
Immigration law is mystery and a mastery in obfuscation, and the lawyers who can figure that out are worth their weight in gold.

Thanks for giving all required details to apply for dependent visa. Now I have an question about maintainance fund. Let me explain my case.
Got Tier-1 visa on 14 Jan 09
Arrived in UK on 24 Apr 09

Now I am planning to apply for depndent visa for my wife and son in Sep-09. For that, Shall i need to show 2800+1600+1600 or 800+1600+1600 or 1600+1600 pound as maintainance fund?

Appreciated if i get clear picture about maintainance fund then i can initiate procedure about it.

I got my Tier 1 general Visa 2 months back and I am planning to apply dependant visa for my spouse and kid.
I am looking for the covering letter format for dependant. Could you please share the covering letter format to me.

Hi wp-tier111,

No .13 is needed .i have done through UKpostoffice or You can submit copy of ur passport , which might have been attested by any solicitor .

No.23 may seem like optional to everybody , but i submiited this because ,one of friend was asked to prove that he was in india during his own marriage . this looks silly , but he got a query intially and he submiited his E-ticket to prove that .

Hi Vijay ,

UK Border agency and Immigration is changing rules everynow and then so i am not sure exactly of ur case .

You can call this Helpline of UKBA and they will let u know whats the correct amount you need to pay .
