'Pursuing a career'

Post by swjunkie228 » Fri May 22, 2009 3:57 pm

So I was told by the judge that my appeal would be granted, but I'm not sure about looking for work.

Once I receive the letter that proves I will be granted the visa am I then able to pursue a permanent position?

I'm only asking as it clearly states on my current (extended) visa status that I am not able to pursue a career by taking a permanent position. If anyone knows where there is an explanation of this that would be greet!

Hi there,

Good news about your aoppeal. I am not sure about your question, but i know that until after you get your visa stampted in your passport, you cannot work full time.

How did your appeal go? What did the judge ask you for? Please describe in details the process. My appeal is going to be sometime in June.

Thanks.

I was under the impression that your status remained the same as it was when you applied and as I'd finished my course I could work for 40 hours, but I didn't so that's a moot point, I would just look into it more if I were you.

The hearing went very quickly, the judge asked a few simple questions about what I originally submitted and the evidence I included to corroborate what I'd originally submitted. The HO Representative asked to see the originals and that was all I had to do. It lasted about ten minutes.

That was good. Glad for you.

Ask your lawer whether you can work full-time from now on. But I know most employers would ask to see your visa first! May be i am wrong, but there is certainly an opportunity to look into.

As regards the hearing, I don't understand the point of refusing a visa to someone who can easily win the case in the court! Why do they do it? It is obvious we can provide more evidence, so what's the point? The process takes time and taxpayer money and the appeal is free for us, so I really don't understand the HO. They could have easily requested additonal evidence from us, and made their decision while in the posession of the full facts. But no, they prefer to refuse and then go to the court.

Maybe I don't understand something?

You cannot pursue a full time permanent job until you get your visa stamped on your passport. Your still on student visa status for now.
