Change from student Visa to workpermit

Post by yamoo » Wed Aug 24, 2005 3:55 pm

I have employer who is willing to apply for a permit for me to work as IT specialist. But I am on student VIsa and have not completed the course for which the student visa was ment for. Because of this The employer is saying that I have to return to my country to apply for entry VISA after securing the workpermit.

I am just wondering if there is any implication to the EC officer on this, considering the fact that I have not registered for my course. Will the EC have any objection to granting me VISA even when the Permit has been approved?

Please I need to share you guys experience of this senario.

Thank you.

I believe that Yamoo means that he/she never attended the college/uni for which the student visa was granted, effectively an abuse of the conditions of his/her student visa.

I don't think that the work permit EC would be impacted by the student visa as it is a different application altogether and if Yamoo can give good reasons as to why he/she was unavailable to register as a student.

Student Visa to WP

Yamoo,

If you chose the in-country switching option, the EC officer will need to have documentation from your instsuitution for the attendance on your course. They will need some kind of proof that you have attended your course as it is a mandatory requirement.

However if you apply from your home country, they will assess the application on it's own merit. They may ask you why you left and return midway during your studies, and you can give them your resons accordingly.
