amhilde,
tru - mine took 13 weeks.
but i have 2 friends that submitted late july and they have received their decision and they both applied from nigeria. one was approved the other refused... on work experience: he was scored 60 points overall...

it seems the time frame has somewhat reduced to about 4-6 weeks.

but here getting EC is another ordeal one must really prepare for, it takes 3-5 weeks to get a repsonse from the high commission.

lol yodi- ah I think for some countries they are lucky it takes 15 seconds to get the EC ( well, more like 2 hours) and a few print-outs. I suppose everything evens out in the end.

Im hoping the reviews team has sped things up, I figure Ill give them till the end of September and then ask whats going on over there, but from what Ive heard they are speeding that process up a little more.

I couriered my documents on Monday (29th August), delivered to HSMP team on Tuesday. I have not so far (until Wednesday evening) received any confirmation Email from HSMP. My credit card also was not debited so far. Is this normal?

amithanda- logic and reality suggest that those countries with more stringent controls on fraud and with first-world economies are unlikely to require more than rudimentary checks for EC. Im in the US- we can mail our EC applications or go down to a consulate where they will have the paperwork done that day and, from what I can tell, one must only show bank statement and answer two or three questions and pay some money. I can imagine it would be the same for Canada, NZ, and Australia. Those where it would take longer I would presume to be Nigeria, India, Pakistan, and the like- procedures differ by country.

I apologize if I offended anyone, but given that I do not live in India and can only tell by the procedures of ppl listing experiences on this site, it doesnt sound nearly as straightforward as it is in the US.

itsme, SpiderKing, HSMPcandidate,

Have your applications been assigned to a caseworker? Did you receive any communication in this regard?

No news so far. I called up on Tue and they said "Your application is still waiting to be allocated".

Thinking of calling on Monday.

vidya- thats cool, I know what you mean about the process. Im on my first appeal and am still extremely angry that I was rejected on initial application by a caseworker who was, shall we say, a little on the "slow" side. Its definitely not an easy process to go through and Ive had to tell all my friends here to let me have some space for a month! :) I really think they should be upholding higher standards of caseworkmanship so that everyone gets a fair review of their application. Right now it seems more like a crap shoot and comes down to the experience level of the caseworker you get.

I thought you had been accepted already?

Well the stories on here of one day are LUCK- i would expect anywhere from 4-13 weeks. Also, the standard of caseworker you get is luck too, dont push it by constantly calling the teams. If you havent heard anything in 6 weeks then call to find out, but every few days isnt going to get anything done.
