If you are in this situation, what will you do?

Post by Ashwin2005 » Fri Aug 26, 2005 2:56 pm

I have my master degree, assessed by NARIC - 25 marks
I have my income proof with required evidences - 25 marks
I have more than 5 years experience with more than 2 years specialist experience.

Since I have already 50 marks for education, and earnings, should I take the pain of explaining my specialist experience and claim 35 marks or simply claim 25 marks?

If you have this situation, what will you do?

Ashwin,
I would not claim for specialist experience ,as this involves more evidences.
Go ahead with 25 points, as long as u cross(or equal) a total 65 points. A person with 65 points and another with 110 points get the same HSMP decision. More brownie points for a better score :-) So, why bother about more documents.

Hope this helps.

I was in the same position like you. I just went ahead and claimed solid 65 points with evidence. Got approval in around three weeks in total (from the time I send my application to the time I received everything back).

Experience

Post by Ashwin2005 » Fri Aug 26, 2005 5:44 pm

Dear topoftheworld, jazbaati99,

Thanks for your views.

My concern is that I have long years of experience. If I do not claim speacialist or senior experience at least for few years, would they think that I did not progress well in my career? Would this affect getting points for experience?

On the contrary knowing HO they may not give you any points for experience if you try to claim specialist points. I would say it is a lot safer to really substantiate your graduate level experience so they cannot deny you your visa.

It is best to claim the maximum number of points subject to accurate supporting documentation to the required HSMP standards being submitted - this forum has extensive details on what is required. Note that only a minor percentage of applicants (I am told less than 10 percent) are awarded significant achievement points. If you will spend another 3 months getting the evidence don't bother waiting go ahead and apply. If its a matter of 2 to 3 weeks then sure wait. However it is your final decision to take. Good luck.

Thanks very much Kayalami. Had I hot this feedback earlier, I would have claimed 35 for my experience. I submitted my application on Monday.

I claimed only 25 points for my experience, although I had worked in senior specialist position. Even with 25 points for experience, I feel I can score at least 75 . My master degree is already assessed by NARIC as equal to British Master (25), Have solid proof for earnings (25 points). I have also claimed for 15 points for significant achievements, and 10 points for my partner's achievement.

I hope things will go smoothly and my application will be approved.
