Can I switch from Tier 1 to pbs dependent while still in UK?

Can I switch from Tier 1 to pbs dependent while still in UK?

Any of you very helpful people know if I can switch from Tier 1 to pbs(dependent with my partners Tier 1) while still in UK?

or do I have to go home and do it from there.

No?
I dont have to go back to new zealand to switch from tier 1 to dependant?

The home office told me on the phone that I cannot switch while in the country, i have to go back and re enter on the dependent visa.
