No more work permit?

am i correct in understanding that there is no work permit being issued anymore? if someone need to make up 5 year for ilr they need to make up with applying hsmp? or can you get extension on work permit still?

It is no longer called work permit but as Tier 2 sponsored worker. At the moment there are still work permits that have been approved/issued before the tiering system was introduced last year - up to 5yrs which would mean validity up circa year 2012-2013 at most.
