Speaking of naturalisation fees, am I going mad or was there a discount given to one spouse, if a married couple applied together?

I could have sworn this is what I saw on citizensinformation.ie some time ago. Doesn't say it anymore anyway!
I am no longer posting publicly on this website - PM me if needed.

I think the minister must use a Statutory Instrument (make a regulation) to do this.
You could check the Statute Book to see if there has been one...

Hi,
the fee was increased last year from around 635e to 950e. I don't think so they can increase any more any time soon. last time it was increased because the fee didn't change for the last 8 years or so.
before there was a discount for the naturalised spouse based on the idea, that one full fee was paid already from the same family. but that was unfair to other applicants, like spouse of irish (born) national. so all the fees are same to all. except for kids and refugees.
the only thing that they probably could introduce would be maybe an application fee or something, money/deposit upfront. because now if you are refused, you don't have to pay.
