Where is the end???????

Post by tomcat » Thu Jun 18, 2009 9:36 am

I am hearing news from last few months about new changes to ILR.
Will there be a time when the people who takes decision for immigration will keep their words? or it's going to be like one change after another and people who are honestly working here and paying taxes without any resource to the public funds find them selves fighting for justice ?

FYI. I am talking purely about people who already are in country.
It seems unjustifiable to me that if you came here before April 2006 on a certain category (as HSMP) then you have different rules for ILR (i.e. 4 years).
But if you came here before 2006 and non HSMP then you have different rules. For example I came here in 2004 and paid very high university fees. and have been working lawfully in my field. And they are chaning rule again now to what 6/8 years. and what about that unemployed for more then 2 months thing ? :|

Not fair Not fair !!

Hi Tomcat
frankly this doesn't make any sense to me. I would however assume that the final revision (going by the parliament debates) will somehow remove the retrospective change part of this bill.

But again that is again hope against any hope!

The worst part of the bill is the fact that you will have to be in 'continuous employment'. Now EU defines continuous employment as being in the same job with the same employer. Now, that gives the employers a tool to exploit the immigrants!

Where is the HO heading for? I am not sure, but it makes me feel like I am not welcomed in this country, which is indeed a shame.

I was really happy with my Tier I extension that I will qualify for permanent residency alas!

Cheers
PG

Apologe if I havent made my self clear about this.
There are some people in the country who came here before 2006 on student visa. As it turned out they have got into their field of empoyemt. These people have paid very hight fees when they came here.
Now suddenly I find that I would have came here on HSMP (which I would qualify ) in 2004 and not have paid those fat fees (which does help the education sector big time in UK btw). then I would be eligibe for PR by now.

100% agree. I feel the same way.

>>I was really happy with my Tier I extension that I will qualify for >>permanent residency alas!
I am happy with my extenstion as well and wish to live here lawfully while contributing to the economy.

That is news to me (the "Now EU defines continuous employment ... " part.) and it will make me worry even more :(

when is the next hearing of this unfair bill ?
