Hi

I am currently in UK and writing my thesis for phd degree. i wish to apply for PSW. my wife and one kid is living with me here in UK.
Can someone please guide me on:

When can i apply for PSW visa.
how much finds do i need and for how long to apply including dependants, it says 800GBP for single but didnt explain how much is needed for dependants.

during the application process can I work or have to wait until the the visa is stamped?

before i started my phd i have been working in pakistan for around four years, is it possible that i can get HSMP on that basis? (my earnings are just enough to claim points)

which one is easier to get PSW or HSMP?

i will recommend u to go with tier1 (general) i.e. HSMP....it really counts in work permit....also if you are eligible then it is a good option.....

You cannot apply when you are writing your thesis, and if you think about it that makes sense, you do not have a PhD until you have completed your thesis, it has been accepted and this has been confirmed in writing.

Please see the case above. Please also ensure that evidence you have your PhD meets UKBA requirements.
