Tier 1 - Dependent Travel without Primary Applicant

Post by abykoshy » Tue May 19, 2009 3:50 pm

My wife is applying as the primary applicant. And I would be applying as a dependent. We are both applying from outside the UK. I would prefer to travel initially to UK and search for a job. And then later bring my family. Is there any restrictions by law in doing it like this ? Has anyone done a similar thing ?

For the first travel, dependents cannot travel alone..

There is no such rule, we can find anywhere in UKBA' documents.

But, It's logical to think that dependent must make first entry with or after main applicant.

Someone posted pretty recently that his dependents entered UK before the main applicant. Will look for the thread ant point out.

There was huge discussion on this topic in past. It's hard to belive that IO will let dependent in, knowing that main applicant has yet to settle in UK.

Unless dependent lied to IO it's difficult to belive it. It's "dependent" visa after all.

Common questions asked at port of entry are "whats your (main applicant) do in UK ?", I can't imagine answer to this question , that satisfies IO.

This has been a hugely debated topic with no final agreement. See this. To be on the safer side send an email to UKBA and confirm.
