Student visa extension, maintance issue

Hi

I am a phd student, i have just started writing my thesis. My visa is expiring in August and i need extension for myself, spouse and my son.

Can any body please help and advice on :
how much extension can i get, is it possible to get one year extension?how much maintance funds i have to show to get one year extension for:
myself
my dependants

what documents are required ?
