Information about Income Proof for UK Spouse Visa - plzhelp?

Post by sabah84 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 7:18 pm

Hi, I would really appreciate some help on my situation.

I'm applying for a UK Spouse Visa. Im American applying through NY Consulate. My husband is British in UK. He lives there. Long story short...

Everything is in order. Hes working full time, earning income requirement for this visa, has his own rented apartment, pays all living expenses, and not on any benefits/public funds. We have been married nearly 5 yrs and got married in Birmingham, UK. Since then, I have been visiting on 6 mth visas and living with him for most part. The only problem I'm having in my application is financial. He is able to support me and earning income. But I am having a problem showing this...

Basically, my husband is being payed cash in hand. Hes working at a Taxi base as an office operator. His boss's company is not illegal. But my husband doesnt have any payslips/tax returns. He's just started this job. Hes been there for about 2 months. The only thing he can provide with the application right now is a letter from his employer. This letter will state the following...

- Start date
- Pay (& that its cash in hand)
- Position
- Job is permanent

And also, it will show his managers information such as his VAT number (tax) and anything else going along with that.

Will this be sufficient enough? Or will they need more proof of income?

I want everything to be in order so there is no problems with my application being refused. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Sabah

If he's not paying tax then there is a big problem.

He has to have a payslip, it's a legal requirement. Otherwise how is he going to prove he's paid his tax? If the taxi firm is paying it - the Inland Revenue will come to your husband for it and then you'll have another battle on your hands.

As it stands in won't be enough - it looks far too dodgy to the outside eye.
