ILR success (HSMP JR) - postal application - 4 weeks

Post by kiwi_in_the_uk » Tue Jul 07, 2009 1:27 pm

Hi all

My dates:

- submitted 3 June
- payment taken 4 June
- acknowledgement letter dated 4 June
- ILR granted 2 July
- letter and passports received today 7 July

So just over a month all up.

I submitted:

- P60s x 4
- payslips (6 months)
- bank statements (6 months)
- employer letters
- marriage certificate and birth certificate for dependants
- proof of mortgage payments and house ownership

A big thanks to this forum - an invaluable source of information.

Hope this is useful, and happy to answer any questions, though hopefully the above just about covers it.

Congrats. just over 4 weeks not too bad. Good to know it went well and you didnt have any problems, i think if i remember rightly you were worried cause you had used IRIS on your entry/exist.

good as well the postal applications are happening so quickly. for some it might be better than spending days hitting the redial button when trying to get an appointment

You have an excellent memory! Yes I was concerned re IRIS, so opted for post rather than PEO just to be on the safe side, and it turned out fine.

I agree re the worthwhile-ness of PEOs - there now seem to be several people who have been approved via post in 2 weeks, so my 4 weeks might actually be considered a long time. It certainly makes food for thought.

Hi,
Just got the ILR (HSMP JR) in 3 weeks
My dates
Application sent (1+3) dependants on 15th June
Payment taken on 16th June
ILR approved (date on letter) 2nd July
All paper work and passports received today - 7th July
I tried to get an appointment with a PEO for a week (since the web site said the delays are up to 6 months)and was very disappointed and dejected, finally decided to send by post.

Just sent P60 + 2months pay slip (April & May) to cover the total period along with a covering letter. Also attached previous communications from the home office and a copy of contract for employment. No bank statements or Life in the UK
They have pre-dated the ILR and have said that the money for extension will be reimbursed in due course.
All the best

Racingfire:

1 - yes, 113 days absences
2 - neither, as far as I can tell. I came home today and it was on my doorstep! I have some workmen at my house, so it's possible they signed for it, but there is also a standard looking mail frank in the corner of the envelope. I was a bit surprised, given that it has passports and other important docs in there.

I received the cheque for refunds today. So not a bad service after all.

Congratulations to those who got ILR!

Has anyone applied in the last 2 weeks? I sent my application on 25 June and got acknowledgment letter the following week (dated 29 June). But up to now, UKBA hasn't charged my credit card. It's been 2 weeks. Just wondering if this is a normal delay (maybe they have a lot of applications now) or something might have gone wrong with my payment, no word from them.

I would suggest you call them and check.
I applied on the 19th of June. The documents reached on the 23rd of June and the money was taken on the same day.

Yes I'd call them - I thought it was normal for payment to be taken straight away (ie within a day or so), then an acknowledgment letter a day or two after that. I've heard of a couple of other people in the same position as you, but mostly not ... best to be safe rather than sorry.

Thanks for the quick replies, rkudum and kiwi. I'll post a letter to the Croydon address with a new payment form. I would call (only have the 0870 number) but from what I've read, they don't have access to applications and won't answer questions until 14 weeks has elapsed. I was really careful filling out this payment form, and judging from my PDF file, it all looks correct, I hope I remembered to sign it.

Alternatively i would suggest you speak to your bank and see if any attempt was made by homeoffice to perform this transaction on your card.

I did check with my bank twice. They said there were no attempted authorisations for £820. Only thing I can think of now is that I left the blank for number of dependants, I should have placed zero. I did tick £820 though.

Eeks, I just spotted another mistake in my form (ticked 'No' for paying rent instead of 'Yes', the placed rent amount beside it). This is minor, but I think I will just phone to ask for the application back. Maybe it's lucky they haven't charged me yet.
