Travel whilst waiting for visa

Post by strangertoyou » Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:53 am

My very kind in-laws have given my husband and I a weeks vacation in Hawaii or St John VI as for our honeymoon, we are currently waiting for my green card, work authorization and travel authorization to be processed (1 month in) but wondered if traveling to either of these places poses a risk since they are domestic? I entered the country on the Visa Waiver Program so it shows that my visa has now expired, though I have the Notice of Action forms etc.

Has anyone had any experience doing this lately?

Neither place poses a problem if the flights involved are domestic. However keep in mind that if the plane needs to make an emergency landing in Mexico or anywhere else outside the US your adjustment of status application will be deemed abandoned and you won't easily be able to return to the US.
