absence day calculation

Post by boonworkpermit » Wed Jul 29, 2009 1:37 am

Hi,

Can someone who's got his/her ILR recently tell me how the case workers calculated their version of absence days?

Some says that the departure and re-entry days are excluded, while others say that both days are included. I will have about 201 absence days inclusively. These will be 157 days by not counting the departure AND re-entry, or 179 days by not couning the departure days.

I'm a bit concerned now, as I want to apply in person at PEO. I can't be without my passport for a long time, due to the need to travel for business trips.

you do not count any days that you were actually in the UK. It does not matter if you were in UK for just a few hours on that day.

I can confirm that the departure and arrival dates can be excluded in the absence calculation. (In fact, this is mentioned somewhere in their guidelines.) I would suggest you prepare a spreadsheet showing the various absences and total them up yourselves (using the above guideline) - and show the total number of days absent on a separate line. This makes it easier for the caseworker.

All the best.

I mentioned either 'Annual paid leave' or 'Business trip' and I got my ILR.

So i dont think you have to be very specific like marriage, ..... etc

Thank you everyone for answering my question.

Smile345<< About your question, I would describe both holidays and your marriage trip as personal trips. I don't really think you need to specify everything in details.

Hi boonworkpermit,
Prepare an excel sheet and include with your application. My excel sheet had the following details:

1) Country of visit
2) Departure date
3) corresponding page number on passport with stamp
4) Arrival date
5) corresponding page number on passport with stamp
6) No of Days including inbound and outbound dates
7) No of Days excluding inbound and outbound dates
8) Grand Total

Infact I had some business trips as well which I put down in a separate section with employer's letters.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

and no of days excluding inbound and outbound dates?

Do you really need to produce a seperate sporeadsheet for absence days. I have been on holiday four times. therefore it should fit in the set(o). do I still need to do? what do you think?
