An international driving permit (to give it it's proper title) isn't a license, it is just a multiple language translation of an existing driver's license, complete with photograph and vital statistics.sjidh wrote:Hi all,
Whats the difference of having Indian driving licence and International driving licence in UK?
I heard both are valid for 1 year from the day i land in UK.
Please let me know if somebody has any idea @ this.
Thanks in advance!

You can drive on your Indian Driving license for first one year immediate after you land in UK. After this one year, you are required to get full UK driving license.sjidh wrote:Hi all,

One benefit of an International Dr permit is, its less of a hassle getting car hire in UK and more so in European countries. Some car rental agencies insist on seeing the International dr permit whether or not your licence is in English. As far as driving your own car in UK is concerned - no difference whatsoever.sjidh wrote:Hi all,
