Required Maintenance funds changed????

Post by kulksnikhil » Sun Aug 09, 2009 11:54 am

On the www.ukvisas.gov.uk http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... t#13774537 website, they have recently updated on 16 jun 2009 as below:

"To qualify for Tier 1 (General) of the Points Based System you must be able to demonstrate that you have funds to support yourself and any dependants. For the main applicant this is £2,800 with a further £1,600 needed for each dependant accompanying you or planning to join you within 12 months of your arrival in the UK. These amounts must be held in your personal bank account for a minimum period of 3 months for which you must show bank statements/other evidence immediately preceding and dated no more than 1 month prior to the date you submit your application. The balance should not fall below the required minimum at any time during the 3 month period."

Does it mean, initially what was 800 GBP is now 2800 GBP ???

Please please please clarify !!!!

thanks a million !!!!

You missed the top block which says:
This guidance is for applicants who are resident outside the United Kingdom.
It was always GBP2800 for those applying from outside UK

if you come first time to the uk along with you dependant(s)

then 2800 + 1600 for each dependant

or
if you had come first and lived in the uk less than 12 months & ur dependants appying in your home country then 1600 for each

or

if you had come first and lived here for more than 12 months then , £533 for each dependants as it says.

Sorry for confusion, if somebody is recieving email notification upon every response of mine, I am editing this reply lot many times !!! I am just framing my question correctly !!!!

Well, I am here in UK on Student Visa since sept 2008. I visited india for two weeks in march and I am planning to visit india in septmber.. again for two weeks !!!! I will be applying for my tier 1 in November and for my dependants in December/January 2010.

So do I have to produce only 533 per dependant ?? Or Student Visa doesn't count in this case ??

Thanks for clarifying !!!

i am not sure if it says anywhere here about students and i guess it applies to everybody

see below

"evidence that there is £1600 (or £533 if you have been in the UK for more than 12 months) for each dependant, in your or their personal bank account for maintenance, and that the money has been there for at least 3 months prior to the date they make their application;"
