Maintenance Funds and NI

Qucik couple of questions, just to make sure.

1. Saving Joint account (me & wife) statements are fine ? Where I am main applicant and wife and child is dependent?
2. For my wife (as dependent), does she needs NI# for extension application? she is not working and not intend to do work for little while?

Dependents dont need to have NIN.. for visa extension
