if you cannot get them on the helpline, you can write in to them by post to Long term residency section and they will send you an acknowledgement. and as well, you will find out what month they are processing at the moment.

after the interdepartamental report is received, it would usually take a week or a few to receive decision letter, depending on how many files for decisions are with the supervisors at that time. if it is a refusal due to convictions, it can take longer.

thanks agniukas for your reply.
wld you know if interdepartmental report involves Garda check only, or is there other outside agencies that LTR section wld be checking as well?
If there are many checks to be done, any idea whether the Garda check is towards the last ones they do, or one of the firsts?
Thanks again.

i'd say garda check would be the only one done. when that report is in and all other docs are in from the applicant himself, the file would be ready for decision. processing of applications should be much faster than those for citizenship. it's probably around 3 months from the time the file is open for processing. of course, during the summer months the process may slow down a bit due to holidays, etc.

which means that are half way through the month of August, or if we are lucky, September. Another blatant misinfo.

when they say they are half way through october 2007, that means initial processing when additional docs are requested. it then depends on when those docs from applicants and external agencies arrive before the process is complete and decision is issued. it could take 3 months from the initial processing till the final decision. so they are correct in giving that type of information. as they have no control over when the requested docs arrive and when individual cases are completed.

Legible - the ones that you can read off, good and clear copy
Endorsement stamps - stamps from your passport given to you by your local immigration officer. practically just the pages that have any stamps in your passport, no empty pages neccessary.
good luck.

all stamps since your arrival in Ireland. Including the student stamps. Your student stamps will not be counted for LTR.
