Which exchange rate to choose (salry frm diff employers)

Post by nitin7181 » Fri Aug 14, 2009 8:44 am

Hi Friends,

My salary breakup is as below:

Employer 1: Feb08-Sep 08 = INR 287246
Employer 2: Oct08- Jan09 = INR 140188
As Contractor: Jan09 = INR 32000

Can you please tell me what exchange rate i should use, whether it will be different for each employer (e.g. sep08 rate fr Emp1 , Jan09 fr Emp2 , Jan09 fr Contractor) or it's just one rate Jan09? If any1 can calculate and let me know how many points i score here(with calculations) that will be of great help.....all earnings are in India in INR.

Exchange rate for "Earnings" should be used as it was on the last day of your earning period. E.g. If you are claiming salary for the period Jan 08-Feb09, then you need to consider exchange rate of the last day of Feb2009 i.e. 28th.

Thanks...so its irrespective of the Employers ...Another question i have is on Maintainence Funds...

....i am relying on Joint account with my brother for Maintainence Fund requirement , i have letter from HDFC on letter head sayign we have maintained xxxxx balance in last 3 months and its a joint account..bt if i take printout of last 3 month transactions....it only shows primary account holder(my brother name). Bank says account statement only shows Primary account holder name..they can write another name to it and sign/Stamp it...though...Will it be a problem?

To be honest I would be very skeptic about this setup. It is preferable to have your own account or joint with your spouse.
If Bank is happy to give a letter stating that you have a joint account (from x date) with your brother but the statement only show primary account holder name, I think it should be fine. Make sure Bank mention the date from which you have joint account with your brother. Apart from this also mention in the letter that balance in your account has never went below the reqd amount for maintenance fund in last 3 calendar months.

Also wait for other member's view.
