I called today around 1pm and got an appointment at glasgow on 2 Oct.
Usually, all bookings are done within minutes after 9:00 am for those slots
that are bookable exactly 6 weeks in advance. I was told that all slots for 5/6 Oct are not available.

In my case, I guess someone must have cancelled the appointment that he/she got a few days ago. So, I guess you can try to call as many times as you like, but you will probably need to be very lucky yo get a cancellation date that meets your strict criteria.
