ILR Success at PEO Croydon under 10 year LR

Post by magsi23 » Fri Aug 21, 2009 3:50 pm

Hi All

I got my ILR today at PEO Croydon and wanted to share the experience with you guys.

My appointment was at 10:00 and i got there for 8:50 am, was told to wait and was let in by 9:00 am.

After going through Airport style security, had to wait in the queue for about 15 mins, after that went to the counter, gentleman was pleasant he did some checks asked for KOL certificate and stamped my application as valid.

He asked me if i had been out of the country for more than 3 months at any one time, i told him No also told him category i am applying under has 6 month rule and not 3 months he wasn't aware of that.

After that had to join another queue for payment, another 20 mins wait and paid £1020 by credit card, there were 2 queues for payment 1 for agents/representatives and one for individual applications.

After that was told to go to 2nd floor and wait for my number to be called, waited around an hour approx 11 am was called in by case worker very nice lady, i asked her exactly what documents did you want, she said Just application, KOL and passport, handed the documents to her and she said i would need to go away and she would call me again in about an hour, got called again and she said to wait another 20 mins.

Got called again and she told me i was granted ILR and can collect my passport in 1 hour i was surprised as she did not ask me a single question, went outside for fresh air came back in half hour and my passport was ready with ILR stamp.

I carried bag full of docs including payslips, p60's, employer letter, SAR file but wasn't asked for anything.

Would be happy to assist if any questions from anyone.

Congrats magsi, that is really nice and you should enjoy your weekend now....

This shows that what so called a gap (i.e. gaps in the dates of issue of visa) doesn't matter as long as you make your application before your current visa has expired!

magsi,

I am thinking of providing a spreadsheet with my application showing all my visa extensions (just to help them). Do you think it's a good idea.

Raj,

I wouldn't bother, they would need to verify on their system anyway, they can see on their system very clearly date application was raised and date Leave to Remain was granted.

I would not complicate things keep it simple, I filled the Set (0) form with all the absences, i had 12 in total so i put 8 on the form and 4 on the spreadsheet giving following info.

Date departed UK, Date Returned, No. of Days, Reason, Country visited.

Hope this helps.

Magsi23,
Thanks for your reply.I am applying for ILR( 10yrs). If wife and child are with me (not included in the application) would that be a problem. I mean would they allow them to go into the Cryodon PEO. Do the security people only allow the applicant. Do they ask any question?

(lboro- it is wise to have the KOL back so that you face no problem while applying for naturalisation. Since there are many people who got more ILR 2/3 yrs back(without KOL), need to appear for KOL before applying for naturalisation. If any reason HO does some mistake then they might again ask for KOL. Simply I don't trust them.)

Raj,

Your wife and child can accompany you and they will be allowed inside. They don't ask many questions just ask you what time your appointment is.

I agree with you about KOL, i had a look at Naturalisation form and they ask you if you got you ILR after passing KOL, so it would be good idea to include it just to be sure.

Thanks Magsi23.

Do they allow people to go in an hour before the appt? or is it strictly half an hour?

Do they send an text reminder day before the appt?

ILR at PEO Croydon under 10 year LR

Post by nj » Wed Aug 26, 2009 9:08 pm

Dear Magsi
Congratulations on your seccess.
As I mentioned in my previous posts, I complete 10 years on 28th Oct 2009. I have seen on the IDI document with regard to 10 yr rule, I can apply 28 days before completing 10 yrs. However, I spoke to 3 solicitors and they suggested me to apply on or after 28th Oct. They told me when I have another leave to remain which is still valid, then case worker may say come back after completing 10 yrs. Unfortunately, if ILR refused for any reason, there is no appeal right when applicant has another type of LTR which is valid. In my case I have HSMP until 27th July 2011. I thought it would safer to apply on or after 28th Oct.
When you went for ILR, did you have LTR still valid beyond the 10 year period ?.
I value your experience on this.
Regards

Thanks nj,

Before the ILR, my LTR was valid till March 2014 as i got new Work Permit only in March this year, and i applied exactly 28 days before, i disagree with all the solicitors who have told you this, there is no such thing and i would suggest you apply as soon as you become eligible ie 28 days before if you are lucky enough to get the appointment like i was.

As long as you have continous stay which i assume you do you have nothing to worry.

Hope this helps.
