Changing from Visitor visa to Tier 1 general - Dependant

Post by kulksnikhil » Mon Aug 24, 2009 11:44 am

I was wondering, if i can bring one of my dependents on visitor visa? I am here on a student visa, my spouse and kid are in India at the moment. My spouse has a student dependent visa. But the kid doesn't have any visa.

So, Can I bring both my spouse and kid here together? If I take a Visitor visa for my kid, can i change it to Tier-1 general -dependent say with in one month of their arrival?

thanks in advance for the info !!!

Child may apply for a student dependant visa.

Only people with leave as dependants may switch in to the dependant route with the main applicant.

Also If I think of applying for a Tier 1 general visa, it is possible to change to Tier 1 General - Dependent, if my kid comes here on a student dependent visa, instead of a visitor visa.

thanks vinny for the response,

however, I am considering the option of applying a student dependent visa for the child.. however, my student visa expires in January.. and the earliest, I can apply for a student dependent visa is in November/December ... do you think, they would give a student dependent visa? Wouldn't they think that a "visitor visa would be more suitable, why a student dependent is required just for two months sake?"

you can apply for dependent visa from india now asap. since u have few months they will give visa to ur child. it wont take much time. i applied for my son in india and it took 3days for the process. when he came here, i extended his visa with mine. please check the rules as mine was a while ago.
