No. Her marriage to you is good enough to allow her to stay with you. The marriage certificate (together with your passports), is all that's needed.dar_man wrote:The question is, is that Greek document indeed good enough to allow my wife stay with me after her Schengen visa expiration?
I thought about going to the Finnish immigration (local police station) and ask about it, but I think in this way I am looking for trouble (can Schengen visas be extended, and if not what's going to happen???)
Thanks for the replies guys. 86ti I am not sure I understand your question. In case you are asking why we went for the "national" resident card instead of the one described by the directive, it's because I am Greek and the directive doesn't apply for nationals of the country of residence. In my case, since I have already used the directive (to work and live in Ireland), if not mistaken I can also use it to go back to my own country, but I think that's a bit special case and in any way the Greek authorities had no clue about this exception.86ti wrote:Just wondering, is there any advantage of the national route over the EEA route in Greece?
Yes, by virtue of the Schengen rules. She can also travel alone. There should be no problems as this has been in force for quite a while now.dar_man wrote:By the way, does anybody have a clue about this: once we get it, will my wife be able to travel without a visa within Schengen (at least in theory)?
Any type of Schengen residence is valid within Schengen member states for upto 3 months without a visa, Yes she can travel visa-free alone without you within the Schengen states.dar_man wrote: By the way, does anybody have a clue about this: once we get it, will my wife be able to travel without a visa within Schengen (at least in theory)? I am fully aware of the situation with the 4EUFam (thanks to this forum), but are national resident cards equivalent to 4EUFam or?
Thanks a lot
