My bank statement doesn’t have salary credit for one month

Post by Noor » Sun Aug 16, 2009 7:28 pm

Hi Friends,

I came to UK on work permit in October 2008, and when we come to UK, the company gives some advance money which they deduct from the salary later. As I came for the first time, it took some time to open bank account, and my bank account was opened exactly on 31st October.

As I did not have the bank account while the salary processing was initiated by the company, I told my company to adjust against my advance money. Everything is well and fine till here.

Now, the problem:

As the salary was adjusted against my advance, my bank statement does not have net salary credit entry. I have the payslip for that month, but the payslip does not specify explicitly that the amount was adjusted for the advance.

Now, how should I explain this to the case worker. Will there be any problem if I don’t have salary credited in the bank, as I have company attested payslip for that month?

I have this issue only for one month. Please help

Thanks,
Noor

You need to provide evidence from two different source to prove your salary/income. I don't think you can do anything for this particular month. You can get a letter from your employer stating the same, but it will depend on the case worker's descretion to award you point for that month. In my opinion, it's better to not count this month since you do not have sufficient evidence to prove it.

Wait for others to reply too.

I was planning to show my earnings from
01-AUG-2008 to 31-JUL-2009.

So, is it fine, I put from
01-JUL-2008 to 31-JUL-2009, excluding OCT 2008 salary in the middle.

Yes. You can. In this case you will have only 11 months to claim for.

Hi Chetan,

I am confused here...how come it can be 11 months,

01-Jul-2008 - 31-Jul-2009 will be 13 months, out of which I am excluding Oct-2008, so that would be 12 months.

Please confirm this

You can only claim for 12 consecutive months. Which means you can claim points for the earnings of either July2008-June2009 or August2008-July2009. You will not be able to claim points for October 2008 due to the lack of documents. Hence you are left with only 11 months. If you are not claiming salary for October2008 doesn't means you add additinal month. You have to choose only 12 consecutive months.

In you application, you will writing that although you are calculating points for 12 consecutive months e.g. July2008-June2008,but you are using earnings for only 11 months i.e. except October2008.

Hope that will help.

Yes. If you score enough points by claiming 11 months you are fine. You can claim from less than 12 months as long as you score enough points.

Yes. You can claim points for salary even for 1 month as long as it is sufficient to prove the points you are claiming... Rule is that if you have earned some specific amount in last 12 months or not so even if you have earned that amount in a month or 6 months, that is fine with them... Go ahead if you can claim points with 11 months salary but don't forget to mention in cover letter why there is no salary clue for Oct month :)

Couple of questions to the OP....

If you came into the UK in October 2008, how can you show payslip for August 2008?

You didnt say what you are applying for? I presume (as most others will I believe) that you want to change from WP to Tier 1 (General). If so then in this case, I will suggest you put all 12 payslips for the 12 consecutive months in your application. In your cover letter, explain why the month of October 2008 does not have a corresponding net salary in your bank acount and then state that even without this month, you have enough to meet the expected threshold for the points you are claiming.

If possible attach a spreadsheet showing this.
