Also see Policy and requirements for Family Reunion.

You can apply using the spousal visa route and paying the appropriate fees.

As you are not the pre existing family you cannot apply for famly re-union.
Family re-union applications takes ages to be prcessed.

Can he travel to SA with his travel document? can he sponsor his spouse?
If so, get married in SA and apply for a spouse visa from there. There are lots of posts on this forum about spouse visa, have a look. Download the VAF4 form from UKBA website and have a look, it'd give you some idea of what they looking for.

If you want come and visit him in the UK before that apply for visit visa or any other visa if you qualify.

You will need to apply for a spouse visa to the British High Comission in Pretoria.

Make sure you have every single bit of proof to prove yourself as a couple evidence of relationship etc over the 2 year period or more. Photos, letters e-mails, letters from friends and family attached with a signed copy of their ID (what i did). Correspondence to both your names when you lived in uk if you lived together. Phone Bills (itemised and also proof that the telephone number is yours etc).
Receipts for all your wedding things and arrangements.

Proof your spouse can support you and the children financially.
Bank Statements
(showing that he not overdrawn-main thing)

wage slips

Accomodation - that there is sufficient room for you and the children etc
tenancy agreement, rent statement (to show i was not in any arrears)

If you need any more help just shout!!!
???REUNITED???
