Is PGDBA from Symbiosis(SCDL)considered as Masters by NARIC

Post by kedar2u » Thu Sep 03, 2009 8:16 am

Hi,

I have completed 2-year Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) from Symbiosis Institute of Distance Learning (SCDL) in 2006 after B.E. (Bachelors in Engineering) - 4 year course from Mumbai University.

I have two years of work exp in UK on a company's work permit which expired on April 30 2008.

I am keen on applying UK Tier 1 visa

After the change in rule since 1st April 2009, you need to have a master's degree to apply for UK (Tier 1) Visa.

Has anyone verified with UK NARIC whether PGDBA degree from Symbiosis Institute of Distance Learning (SCDL) is considered as a Master's Degree?

Can anyone Please guide

Check here if your Diploma could qualify:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/pointscalculator

If not, you need to send your qualification transcripts to UK NARIC to see if they are equavilent to UK Masters. Master level is the minimum requirement to apply for Tier 1 General visa.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, though a little heartbreaking.

Does anyone know which are the Post Graduate Diplomas (or Executive MBAs / Part time MBAs) that qualify as Masters (Apart from IIMs ofcourse)

See this:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... 310309.pdf

Section qualifications, page 16: clauses 71, 75, and onwards.

If it is not on point based calculator, you need to contact NARIC to see if your vocational education qualify for it or not.

Hi Raja
I am also alumni of SIIB and received PG Diploma from the institute under MPIB program (2 yrs Full time).
You mentioned that your PG was approved by NARIC. Please let me know whether it was approved as equivalent to UK Masters diploma or UK Masters Degree? Since now people holding masters degree will be able to qualify for Tier-1 visa.

Will appreciate your help in this regard.

Not just ditance learning, i have got the evaluation done for full time 2 yr diploma awarded by SIIB. It is recognized as equivalent to diploma as well, while SIBM is recognized as master degree.

Difference in the grounds... you thing it can be appealed to NARIC?
