I was in the same situation (came to London from Dublin, worked in Dublin before getting British wp) and got my ILR without a single question - the only possible difference was that I had to register with police and I did it just 3 days after my arrival - so I at least had the registration stamp in my passport.rajumr wrote:Hello Folks,
I got one of other queries clarified in this forum. I hope to get this one too sorted out.
I came to UK(Belfast, Northern Ireland) from Dublin. The border between Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland is not always immigration controlled.
Unfortunately, the train that I boarded didn't get immigration checked and hence, I don't have a stamp of my entry into UK on my passport.
I believe that British visa is "enabled" automatically when you cross Irish-British border - I saw something about it in the Home Office guides several years ago. And the visa itself has proper wordings about employment.paulp wrote:
It was no fault of your own and the HO will have to accomodate you as far as possible but I wonder if there is any wording of the Immigration Act that requires "admission to the UK for the purpose of wp employment".
