Time frame for the Declaration of Fidelity

Post by IPT » Fri Sep 04, 2009 12:50 pm

Hi Guys,

The next step after your application for naturalisation is approved is to make the declaration of fidelity to the nation.

Is there the time frame within which the declaration must be made?

Can a person not to make the declaration for several years?

There's no timeframe defined, but why do you want to take this risk given the vagaries of the INIS.

i'd say INIS would be very interested to find out the reason for the delay. I would guess that the reminder would be sent out to you and if no reasonable reason received, the decision may even get cancelled or something if they see that you are not interested enough to complete the process... and as well they may decide to charge you more depending on the fees at the time when you decide to take up their offer.
i wouldn't risk it... but it depends on your personal reasons.
