Requesting personal data from Home Office

Post by score2009 » Thu Sep 10, 2009 7:24 pm

Has anyone requested personal data through 'Subject Access Request'?

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/navig ... onal-data/

How long does it take? (says 40 days)
What can you request? (including Refusal paper?)
Does it effect your 'file' or 'status' in anyway?

Thank you

Was a bit paranoid about it, said in my letter, "I lost..." which might make it sound like I'm irresponsible etc or I might look pushy....

Thank you

Thank you
Could you kindly explain a little bit more about your situation and tell us what exactly you are looking for? I mean what makes you to get SAR.

Was having my case handled by some immigration consultant, now his making it hard to get my documents of him. I have tried different methods and people to get my file off them, however failed. So I thought it would be better to ask the Home Office for the documents. Have I made a mistake?

Do you have any sort of document from him which proves that he had your documents with him. Any receipt of taking your case or something like that. Just one. Read the link below :

Apart from that contac local CAB office immediately for help.

Your solicitor have to give you your documents back because they are required by law to do so. Their practices can be scruitnise for not giving documents back to their clients. And I am very certain about this.

Thank you for that. I have long forgotten about the company. Taken things into my own hands, hence the SAR
