Do I need to apply Child Dependent Visa before ILR?

Post by sherlypk » Mon Sep 21, 2009 11:34 am

Hi,

I am about to apply for ILR soon our baby born in UK but since we didn't go out of the country, I didn't apply his dependent visa.

Please inform whether it is ok to apply for ILR without having dependent visa on his passport or do I need to apply for his dependet visa first before ILR application.

thanks.

Regards,

Sherlypk

Hi Sherlypk,

You can apply for your ILR with your son without a dependant visa.

As you said, there was no reason to apply for a dependant visa if the child never travelled out of the UK.

This scenario has been discussed many times in the forum.

All the best

if you are planning to apply for BC to your baby then you don’t need to add his/her application for ILR ( can save some money )
instead once you get your ILR you can apply your baby for naturalization.
