Post by vivek_tailor » Thu Sep 24, 2009 8:07 am

Hi all,

I have just got tier 1 visa for initial 3 years. I am already working here but I have another part time job offer. is it legal that someone can do 2 jobs on tier 1 visa?

thanks,

Vivek

"Most", I don't think so. It's very difficult to manage two jobs, unless both of them are part time.

Great, but most people can not do it, if you want to spend time with family and consider physical limitations.

You are right. Just remember to enjoy every moment. Oh ! O ! I'm being philosophical. Forget it.

In summary, I want to say that "most" people here are not doing 2 jobs. But, yes, if one has plenty of time to work, then yes they do. I work 35hrs/week in my only jobs, and have lots of time to nurture my other hobbies and family.

But, yes, if situation warrants, I'll do other job, too.

try Gumtree in your local area. reed, cwjobs and monster are worth trying as well.

be consistent and keep applying and tailor the cover letter for every role you apply

Jobsite.co.uk is also quite good from my experience. Depending on your field, there will be various recruitment agencies who specialise in your type of job. If for example you are an IT guy, do a google search for "IT recruitment agencies UK"

Get in touch with these agencies.

Do not hesitate to take a temp contract if the job is related to your field. If you don't have any UK experience, after even 5-6 months of temping you can get an improved package.

Don't let talk of recession fool you, companies are always looking at attracting skilled workers. The recession means they can get them on slightly cheaper packages, so if they like your CV, they will definitely call you for an interview.
Please do not send me any Private Messages as I do not check these.
