Registration of Marriage in Scotland

Post by princess22 » Mon Oct 05, 2009 3:33 pm

Hey guys

I got married in 2007 in Pakistan, my partner is a Pakistani Citizen, he has got his visa for 2 years and we will be applying for ILR in March 2010.

I havent yet registered our marriage in Scotland simply because I didnt know I had to do this. I will be doing this some point this week.

Will this affect my husbands's ILR?

Sorry if I have put this in the wrong topic, your help is appreciated.

Thanks

Under UK law, you don't have to register your marriage here, so this won't have any affect on your husband's ILR.
Has he past the Life in the UK test or completed an ESOL Citizens course yet?

Hey

Yeah the life in UK test is sorted.

So we dont have to advise authorities in the UK of our marriage in anyway?

Thanks

No legal requirement to do so.
