just be careful when going holidays, if your approval arrives and you are not here and you need to pay 500 euros within 28 days or you will have to apply again. start from beginning
.

i have told my friend to check my letter box once a week and it might be great if u could let me know once u have your letter it would be more or less same time frame as yours i will be getting the letter[/b]

gap in stamps

Post by aditya1111 » Sat Oct 03, 2009 8:01 pm

Dear all,
as i applied for my LTR in last oct 08 straight after completing my 5 years on work permit, my permits were continous from 03- 04 -05 and so on but 2 times my visa expires on 15 oct but due to delay in getting new renewed work permit i went to get the stamp in dec and jan for the next year so for example i meant to stay in ireland untill 15 oct 2005 and i get renewed work permit 10 dec 2005, and i went to GNIB to take stamp on 15 dec 2005 and i get stamp untill 15 dec 2006 so the time from 15 oct 2005 untill 15 dec 2005 for 2 months should not be conunted. if this is true i have sent my application b4e 60 months and they have accepted the application and nealy one year is gone i want to ask will this be negative affect on my application and what it could be i have to wait till i get the decision and if its rejected i have to make a new application from start pls help me with this situation.
cheers

Need some additional info. I got my LTR in January this year. I have a stamp 4 on my passport already but I have not gone to get the stamp for LTR after I received the my approval letter. Will I get into trouble if I show up now? Do I need to reapply because I was late to get the stamp?

Thx

room1102, that would actually be interesting to know. i guess you will have to try and let us know.
i guess it should be ok, but you would only be getting your stamp till january 2014, as it is 5 years from the date of the letter.
the problem may be that the section would send instructions to GNIB at the same time as you get your letter. so it's possible that GNIB may not locate their instructions that would have been sent to them 10 montsh ago... (or they may not want to go and look for them).
and i hope your are still in permission as if you are not, even LTR letter won't help you...

Instructions? Don't really understand what you mean by that and please explain. Also, LTR letter won;t help me? why so? Don't I have to show GNIB my letter to proof that I am entitled for LTR?

room1102, sorry for not wording it clearly. everytime any section in dep of justice grants anything to anyone, like LTR, they would send a letter to the applicant informing them about that and as well, they would send a letter to GNIB instructing GNIB to give an appropriate stamp to that applicant with a copy of the letter that was issued to the applicant. that is done so that people don't forge the grant letters or something. if GNIB has no instructions from LTR section in relation to stamp 4, the applicant won't be getting it, even if he has the letter sent to him...
i haven't heard of anyone on the board being refused LTR because they went in late to get their stamp, so maybe you will be ok. just try and let us know.
i wish you all the best. good luck

one more thing. if you are currently out of permission (illegal) in the country (i think it's 3 months or something), your record would be locked on the system and GNIB wouldn't be able to unlock it and update your status. you would then have to apply to dep of justice (not LTR section) to regularise your status.
there were cases on the board when people were waiting for LTR and didn't renew their permission for a year. when they got granted LTR, GNIB wouldn't stamp them, because they were illegal in the country for a long period of time.
that's what i meant when i said, that if your were out of permission, even LTR letter wouldn't help you.

Yesterday received letter from LTR section asking for add documents, i.e. recent stamps on passports and copy of GNIB card. does anyone know, how long it takes once I sent these documents?

It used to be about 3 months average . However According to Heinrich, he's took about 4 weeks. So Hopefully it is moving faster now. BTW, when did yu apply?

Hi csr,
Ye, my updated stamps and GNIB card where requested end of August, and I got my approval letter yesterday. Now, that was only the letter saying its been approved, and as soon as they received the €500, they will issue me with a formal letter granting me Long Term residency. How long that one takes, I dont know. I sent them the €500 yesterday, so as soon as my formal letter arrives, I will let ye all know.

My LTR approval letter arrived in the post this morning. They are requesting for the payment of E500 within 28 days.

I applied Jan 2008, updated GNIB card and passport stamp requested and submitted in August 09.

Well, I've finally clocked my 5yr legal residence for applying for Irish naturalization. I went to an immigration lawyer in Dublin on Tuesday and she went through everything with me and signed my application. All good to go (thank God!) She also mentioned
