Do I need to take live in the UK test

I have applied for ILR way back in March.

My lawyer said I do not need to take or enclose life in the UK test because I have studied in the UK and have completed a degree in the UK.

Can anyone confirm is this right?

WRONG! You need to do it, regardless. You might also consider changing your 'lawyer' while you're at it!

Katamatin,

You need to give the Life in UK Test irrespective, unless you fall under HSMP Judicial Review.

I have studied in the UK and in English medium, still I had to take the Life in UK Test.

And once you get your ILR and if you plan to apply for Citizenship, you will have to give the Life in UK test anyway, so better you give it now and get it out of the way.

Under what category did you apply? Have you had an acknowledgement of your application?

The exempted applicants are HSMP Judicial Review, Domestic Violent victims, Applicant under 18 and over 65. Medical condition, which prevents someone from being able to take it. Every other applicant require it.

I think that lawyer is not entirely correct

trawling back through previous posts, the OP applied on 10 year legal stay...student followed by WP.
Exempt?? Unlikely. Anyone want to confirm? Maybe this explains the 7 month delay.

If the OP is applying for ILR based on 10 years lawful resident, then Life in the UK test is required. If she falls into the category of HSMP migrant before 7th November, 2006, and applying under HSMP JR after 4 lawful years of resident in the UK, then she will be exempted.

As things stands, she would require the KOL test. If her Work Permit is HSMP Pre NOV 7 2006, then she will be okay without it, provided she is applying on that basis and meet the requirements.
